It’s been a while since you’ve heard from me, hasn’t it?
Months. Definitely a lot of months. Thank goodness it was not years, but it might as well have been.
(If you don’t want to read through a lot of preamble, all you need to know is that I’m starting a new, more condensed newsletter. It will land in your inbox once a month, usually on the last Friday, and will feature all of the new posts, refreshed posts, and updates from me, Rebecca. Sign up below! It coincides with a rebrand of Almost Ginger. If you’re curious to know where I’ve been or why the name change, keep reading!)
Looking back over my calendar, I can easily see where I derailed. At the start of 2023, I worked a heck of a lot to save for my month-long trip around Northern Italy in the spring for my milestone birthday.
I had almost recovered from that adventure when I jetted off to the USA (East Coast and Utah) for a month in summer 2023.

Then, in September 2023, I moved to Belfast to start a master’s degree in creative writing. I went back to the USA five times too.
I barely had time to see my family back in England, let alone update my website! Thankfully, I graduated in December 2024, so now I’m just working and not working and studying.
That brings us about up to date.
Oh, wait. I almost forgot. I met a rather nice American man on that trip to Northern Italy. We got engaged last year and I hope to move to Utah at some point this year and get married! I’m currently in Utah spending two months with my fiancé over Christmas and the New Year.
Phew. Okay. I think that’s enough backstory for now.
All that to say, I simultaneously have more time now to work on my website and lots of exciting things to write about.
I must have visited hundreds of filming locations in Italy, the USA, and Ireland over the last two years. I haven’t written about any of those travels! I’ve barely started editing the photos.

So, I’ve decided to go all in and start reposting again! But that’s not all.
I created this blog in 2014 under the Almost Ginger name because I wasn’t sure what I wanted to blog about. All I knew was that I wanted to start a blog.
I thought I’d choose a name that was so innately ‘me’ that it wouldn’t matter what niche I picked.
But the name just does not work.
I told a friend at the end of last year that I was rebranding my website. Their response was, ‘Is it because you’re actually a full ginge?’
It would be funny if it was, but it’s not. Simply, this website has become all about filming locations, film festivals, and other aspects of screen tourism. I want it to stay that way. I still can’t get enough of hunting down a place from a movie or checking out a film festival.
Almost Ginger doesn’t really mean anything, but it definitely doesn’t mean that.
The name hasn’t worked for years now, but I’ve put off changing it to anything else. The pain of rebranding a website and changing a domain is just such a faff.
But if not now, when?
So, I’m embarking on an incredibly messy and not-at-all professional website rebrand.
Here is exactly what I’ve got in the works for 2025:
- Starting a Facebook Group (join the Filming Locations Fan Club here!)
- Writing new posts and updating all the old posts so they’re fresh
- Designing a new logo and website for Offscreen Tourist (this website’s new name!)
- Creating all new social media platforms with @offscreentourist
- Publishing a brand new newsletter!
Ah, finally. The point.
This update is mostly so you can sign up for my brand-new newsletter.
The website rebrand will happen very soon. While I focus on everything else, my social media pages will gather dust.
I want to update all the website content so it’s valuable for you all, write new posts based on my most recent travels, and start chatting with you all more via the newsletter and Facebook group.
You won’t get an email when every post is updated. You’ll just receive one monthly digest.
It’ll include:
- Every brand new post created that month
- Every existing post that I’ve updated
- Life updates – where I’ve travelled, fun observations from life in the US, etc.
- Fun things – movie quotes, maybe quizzes, videos, and photos
I’m going to post the Offscreen Tourist Monthly Digest usually on the last Friday of the month.
If you sign up in time for January’s post, which goes live on the 31st, you can read all about my trip to Las Vegas (I’m flying there tomorrow!) and my experience at the Sundance Film Festival 2025.
Yes, I’m going to Sundance too! I’m already reaping the benefits of my pending move to Utah.
Here’s that sign-up form again:
You can unsubscribe at any time.
If you still can’t sign up, leave a comment and I’ll look into the technical issues you’re having ASAP.
And if there’s anything specific you’d like me to discuss in the newsletter that I’m not covering, let me know.
I’m always open to feedback and want to make sure I’m providing useful information.
So, I think that’s everything for now…?
Until January 31st!
