That’s a Wrap! June on Almost Ginger

Every time I write my monthly post, I look over my google calendar and unconsciously determine where on the ‘quiet’ to ‘busy’ scale this month fits. I’m not sure why the busy-ness of my days determines the quality of my month, but it’s honestly second nature. Why I don’t measure my months more consistently in enjoyment and experiences is a question for a different time.

This month was completely all over the place; I spent a couple of weekends with my boyfriend’s friends which was lovely and I’m so happy I could enjoy the good weather whilst it lasted, but it’s been a higgledy piggledy month in terms of productivity and through an annoying state of affairs I am currently homeless, living in student accommodation, trying to make the best out of a bad situation. On the plus side, I am still going to the gym, and I will continue to bring this up for as long as it takes to stop feeling like a huge achievement for me! 🙂

What I’ve been watching

Nevertheless, I managed to fit in some films and I didn’t end up too far behind my 92 film target. I didn’t get to the cinema apart from a day trip to Sheffield Doc Fest and watched three in one day, so I’m going to assume that makes up for it. Here’s to more cinema trips in July!

Re-watches: Wild (2014), Midnight in Paris (2010), Walk The Line (2005)

Screenings: When Two Worlds Collide (2016), The Age of Consequences (2016), Don’t Look Back (1967)

New watches: Senna (2010), The Witch (2015), Badlands (1973), Ten (2002), Ex-Machina (2015), Zootropolis (2016), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), The Cabin in the Woods (2012), The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert (1994), The Bucket List (2007), Big Hero Six (2014)

TV Shows: Games of Thrones obvs (dat ending!)

Where I’ve been

Not a whole hell of a lot of places, and don’t expect this to change for a while. With going to Dublin, Lisbon and Berlin earlier this year and squeezing in UK trips to London and Cardiff, I’m tapped out! Well, not exactly, but with a trip to London coming up in August and New Years Eve in Paris booked, I think spending time closer to home wouldn’t be such a terrible thing. Plus I still have so many places on my UK travel Bucket list to get through.

Where I have been includes Sheffield Doc Fest, a little trip to Manchester School of Art’s degree show, going to a Kurt Vile gig at Manchester’s Gorilla venue and FINALLY going to V Revolution, this awesome and well-priced vegan junk food cafe in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

What I’ve been writing

Not a whole hell of a lot. I suck, I know. I even missed my June Blind Spot and almost missed my monthly Woody Allen feature! Make it up to you…. promise! *Bats eyelids*

What’s coming up in July…

Again, nothing too exciting, but I’m going to stay with one of my best friends this month, as well as catching up with more friends in Manchester and going home to see my family and enjoy some of that luscious Lake District countryside (please don’t rain, please don’t rain…). I’m also donating blood for the first time but I’m not worried, I’ll take an entire pack of McVities chocolate digestives to see me through.

On the blog/writing side of things I hope to be writing a hec of a lot more, as well as more articles for The Culture Trip. I signed up to take part in Monica from The Travel Hack’s blogger course so I will be starting that and I’m quite looking forward to learning her secrets!

5 Goals for July:

  1. Actually catch up on some new films so I can stick to my target of watching an equivalent of a film every other day and reach 106/107 films
  2. FIND A NEW PLACE TO LIVE. AGAIN.
  3. Write a lot more for my blog & for other online publications.
  4. Start as I mean to go on with The Travel Hack’s blogger course!
  5. Spend some much needed quality time with my family & friends

Have you got up to much this June?
