Bond in Motion Exhibition at the London Film Museum

I love it when the whole world seems to be going James Bond crazy right before a new film is released (SPECTRE (2015) is out tomorrow!) and I have to say I am too. Earlier this month I headed down to London for the UK LAMB (Large Association of Movie Bloggers) meet up and I headed straight to the London Film Museum for this exhibition.

The Bond in Motion exhibition has actually been open since March 21st this year and was extended due to popular demand and has no plans to close any time soon. I’m not massive on cars or anything, but I loved learning how they modified the cars and how they even came to be a quintessential element in the Bond cannon.

James Bond’s passports

As well as the vehicles, they had some costumes and little cool things like these passports to show the insane amount of detail they have in the James Bond movies. Obviously, he is the man that found the Fountain of Youth!

The most recognisable Bond car, the Aston Martin DB5 as seen in Goldfinger (1964)

The keenest of Bond fans will notice this car doesn’t have the same plates which read BMT 216A. The same car with the exact same plates (with the 6) also appeared again in Skyfall (2012).

The deets

I paid a full price ticket which is £14.5o. If you’re not a big Bond fan, it’s probably a little too expensive. On the website, it says the audio tour is an extra £5 but from my receipt I paid £3. The guide was definitely worth it because I spent just under 2 hours in the exhibition but if I hadn’t got the audio guide I reckon I would have spent closer to 45 minutes in there, which wouldn’t have been worth the money.

Also, this is the only exhibition to see at the London Film Museum. Before I did my research, I thought the museum would have permanent collections which would be free like a normal museum but Bond in Motion would be a special one you pay for. Not the case, this is the only exhibit there.

I don’t want to sound too negative though because I loved all the cars and the little trinkets and information and it was well worth it to me! A little note, the museum was slightly difficult to find because you’d think it was right next to Covent Garden but the entrance is a street over. So you’d be better off google mapping the street name than the Museum. The street name is Wellington Street.

Note from October 2016: The Exhibition is STILL there. It must be super, super popular!

Have you made it to the exhibition or are you a big Bond fan? WHO ELSE IS EXCITED ABOUT SPECTRE??

Looks like they’ve got a brilliant collection of memorabilia from the movies, particularly the cars. I’d love to check this out myself if I can get down to London soon. Good photos Rebecca!

They really do, I can’t think of anything they’ve missed at all. It’s well worth it if you’re a fan and you have the time as there hasn’t been a collection quite as good as this before. Thanks! 🙂
