It’s hard, guys. Sometimes, it’s just so damn hard getting those you love into the Christmas spirit. And I get it. You’re not 5 years old anymore, but you maybe haven’t got kids. Christmas is more about busy shops, expense and awkwardness than it is about excitement, presents and Santa Claus. But Christmas movies are a GREAT way to get into a festive spirit for the uninitiated, and they don’t have to be the typical sort, like Miracle on 34th Street (1947), Home Alone (1990) or It’s a Wonderful Life (1946).
So many action, sci-fi and drama films just have Christmas as a setting or time of year for the film, rather than a central theme. Albeit, some in a very small way. So the next time you want to watch a Christmas movie with your love one who has Grinch-like tendencies, why don’t you suggest the following…
*I know that the Harry Potter films, The English Patient (1996) are briefly set at Christmas but I’ve tried to pick films that the average Christmas-hater would like. Like, C’mon, if you like Harry Potter you like Christmas. Am I Right?
