JJ Decembrams: My Favourite scenes

It certainly is the month of JJ Abrams, isn’t it? Directing what will most likely be the most successful film of all time (a little film called Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)) and hands down the film of the year (to me and most people anyway) despite stiff competition.

It’s also fitting that, finally on my very last month focusing on a certain director, that I’ve watched every JJ Abrams directed film. Other months I might have watched 1 or 2 but usually I haven’t watched any, which I know is quite poor, but I guess I have my favourites and old habits die hard.

Here are my favourite scenes from all of JJ Abrams films (that’s directed, he’s also a composer, producer, actor so I’d be lucky to have watched everything):

Mission Impossible III (2006)

The Bridge Attack scene. Mission Impossible III isn’t my favourite in the franchise by any means, but this scene keeps me most on edge and the head-height camera angles really do make you feel like part of the action.

Star Trek (2009)

Spock turning down his back-handed acceptance into the Vulcan School of Science. Buuuuurn.

Super 8 (2011)

This is the most memorable scene for me in this beautiful tribute to 80s films and 80s film-making kids.

Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)

I didn’t much enjoy Star Trek Into Darkness, it was pretty generic, but any scene with Simon Pegg is a winner with me.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

Now… That would be telling! Not that I’d be able to find any decent YouTube clips, but I wouldn’t want to spoil the film for any poor folk out there who haven’t seen the film yet (as I assume you obviously are at somepoint).

But… Let’s just say… One of my favourite scenes… Is when a certain new character finds themselves in a ‘bit of a pickle’ and upon recently learning they have ‘certain’ abilities, tries them out on a ‘certain member of the bad guys’ and it may or may not work in a funny way. Not my absolute favourite as I haven’t worked that one out… But, the simple things, you know?

Do you have any favourite JJ Abrams moments?
